What can I do online to market my business? Here's 10 tips that you could try, or try something else!
- Update the content on your website, particularly news and home page content
- Send an email newsletter - tell stories about your recent successes or those of your clients, some tips, ideas, etc...
- Open a Google AdWords account & test some pay-per-click ads
- Set up Google Analytics on your site (or view statistics) and find out info about who's using your site:
- Check what keyword searches reach your site
- Check what sites people come to your site from
- Check what pages people enter & leave your site
- And moreā¦.
- Get links to your website from 5 or more other sites - target sites that are related to your businesses but not in competition to your site, use sites where you know someone if possible & offer a return link. Give them a short description of your site with the link - make sure it includes key search terms
- Start blogging (Wordpress.com) or micro-blogging (twitter.com) - talk about what you know best & provide views that are helpful or provocative - keep it interesting & link (where appropriate) back to your website
- Join Linkedin.com - start networking online with the people you trust. Depending on what you do, this might also include or extend to Facebook.com or MySpace.com
- Have a look at your competitor's sites - see what they're doing, be critical and analytical, what can you learn from them?
- Consider the future of your website - what needs to happen to make sure you stay competitive?
- Is it time to start selling online?
- Would a poll or a blog on your website keep visitors interested / informed?
- Do you need to bring the visual design up to date?
- Ask customers what they think of your site - especially when they're new & just looked at it
